The Faculty of Engineering trains the specialists in a wide range of fields: technologists for light and chemical industries, mechanical engineers for heavy, chemical and engineering industries, electrical energy engineers and electricians, as well as specialists in the industrial enterprises ecology. Most of the graduates become employed according to their specialization at the enterprises of the region. They are able to compete in labour market in Ukraine and abroad.
Education on all specialties of the Faculty can be obtained by the levels of a Bachelor or a Master. The specialty "Chemical technology and engineering" has got an additional accreditation on the "Doctor of Philosophy" (PhD) degree.

The sphere of professional activity of graduates: research, development, and design of machines and apparatuses for chemical production; operation, maintenance and repair of equipment of chemical production and building material enterprises; research and development of technological processes in mechanical engineering, operation of equipment in engineering production.
Research trends: research and development of devices for realizing the process of mixing fluid in the free volume; apparatus implementation of processes of gravitational and pneumo-gravitational mixing of bulk materials; devices for intensification of mechanical processes in vibrating fluid bed of the bulk materials; studies of the hydraulic characteristics of the mass-transfer devices of column apparatuses; the process of metal degradation in chemical and oil-refining industries and corrosiometry; chemistry and technology of nitrogen compounds; apparatus implementation of technological processes.
By the results of the research, teaching staff of the department has published more than 250 articles, theses, papers and reports, and obtained 98 inventor’s certificates in the USSR, patents in Ukraine, USA, Germany and England.

The sphere of professional activity of graduates: organization of operation and repair of electromechanical devices and systems; downloading and using specialized software; work with specialized measuring devices; design, installation, testing of electromechanical devices and systems; EMS (electro-mechanical systems) repair.
Research trends: development of competitive, intelligent primary transducers for engineering and medicine; creation of computer diagnostic systems for substances, materials, products quality control; development of modern computer flaw detectors, structure-scopes, thickness-meter and other non-destructive check (NDC) devices; NDC devices repair and maintenance; development of new microprocessor-based instruments and automated systems for scientific research; improvement of existing and development of new instruments and systems for monitoring environment ecological parameters.

The sphere of professional activity of graduates: Organization and realisation of nature protection measures, surveillance and monitoring of the natural environment conditions, developing environmental measures, participation in research, design and operation of environmental protection facilities, ecological expertise of projects and productions; research, design, reconstruction, development and exploitation of the chemical substances production.
Research trends: ozonation of organic and inorganic compounds by ozone; current issue of development of resource-saving technologies of small tonnage inorganic substances production, in particular heterogeneous catalysts; current issue of catalytic processes in the chemical and oil refining industry by aerosol nanocatalysis technology in liquid high-temperature coolant; processing of polymer compounds.
There is a scientific Ecological Club at the Department, where students carry out scientific researches on environmental problems of the region, expend environmental knowledge among pupils and take care of the plants of the winter garden.

The Department laboratories are built by a subject principle: general and inorganic Chemistry; analytical Chemistry (qualitative and quantitative analysis and physico-chemical methods of analysis); physical and colloidal Chemistry; corrosion of metals; general chemical technology; industrial safety protection.
The educational plans of specialists training include the learning of such basic fundamental disciplines: General and Inorganic Chemistry; Chemistry with fundamentals of Biogeochemistry; Chemistry; analytical Chemistry and instrumental methods of analysis; physical Chemistry; surface phenomena and dispersions; chemical resistance of materials and corrosion protection; general chemical technology; theoretical foundations of physical-chemical methods of control; basics of industrial safety protection; industrial safety protection and health , and others.
The Department of Chemistry and Industrial Safety Protection works in close collaboration with the graduate departments. There is a postgraduate course at the department.
Research trends: participation in the international scientific conferences; organization of two international scientific conferences: "Future scientist" and "Technology"; conducting regional subject competition on Chemistry.
