Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Electronics Serhii Mytrokhin and Head of the IT Solutions Center Oleh Zakhozhai visited the IT Way sports robotics team from Kramatorsk, which is participating in the international program-competition FIRST LEGO League.
At the beginning of each school year, teams around the world receive a Season Challenge, which they must solve within 3-6 months and present at the festival. Each year’s challenge is dedicated to a specific global scientific and technological issue. The range of these problems is very wide, chosen by real scientists and engineers, and covers topics such as global climate, ocean protection, waste management, modern educational technologies, Earth satellite exploration, design and construction of comfortable and accessible cities, etc.
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge program consists of four equally important parts:
- – “Innovative Project” – the team identifies and researches a problem related to the season’s theme, and then develops and presents its innovative solution.
- – Robot Design – the team defines a strategy for completing missions and designs and programs a robot according to its plan.
- – “Robot Race” – the team designs, builds and programs a LEGO MINDSTORMS/SPIKE PRIME robot to complete missions on a special field with LEGO models and obstacles.
- – The Core Values are how team members work on the Innovation Project, the Robot Race, and the Robot Design.
This meeting allowed the representatives of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University to dive into the world of sports robotics and discuss the possibilities of applying FIRST LEGO League approaches in the educational process.
