The dean, heads, teachers and students of the Faculty of Agriculture took part in the International Forum Politics – Business – Science – Education “Sustainable cattle breeding and milk production in Ukraine” under the ERASMUS+ Sustainable Livestock and Animal Welfare (Sulawe) project.
The priority issue at the international forum was to highlight sustainable livestock development and animal welfare, which are important for understanding the trends of the present and future.
Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, delivered a welcoming speech, described the state of Ukrainian agriculture and emphasized the concept of implementing a full range of measures to improve animal welfare in the Ukrainian livestock sector.
In his welcoming speech, SULAWE Project Manager, Professor of the University of Nürtingen-Gaislingen (Germany) Heinrich Schüle described the results of the SULAWE project and emphasized the implementation of the project results in the educational process of master’s educational programs of specialty 204 “Technology of production and processing of livestock products”.
Ivan Parubchak, acting rector of the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after S.Z. Gzhytsky, delivered a welcoming speech.
Jean-Louis Peyrot, Professor of the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) (France), revealed ways to solve current problems of livestock farming and prospects for the dissemination of animal welfare and sustainable milk production in Ukraine.
Abele Kuipers, Doctor of Science, Wageningen University (the Netherlands), characterized the main trends in the sustainable development of animal husbandry and animal welfare in the European Union.
Professor of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) Francie Booth (former Minister of Agriculture) Emil Erjavec described the process of transition and policy transformation, the main challenges on the way to EU membership. He shared the successful experience of the Republic of Slovenia.
Oleh Chub, Commercial Director of Chub Agro Concept, PhD in Agriculture, emphasized the close cooperation between business and universities.
The forum included interesting plenary and specialized sessions, as well as a panel discussion.
