The first week of the translation practice of the 4th year students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation, specialty “Philology. Germanic Languages and Literatures (translation inclusive), first language – English”. For some students, this year’s internship is held at the Almenda Center for Civic Education, an NGO that is active in the international arena in protecting the rights of young people from the temporarily occupied territories.
As translators’ assistants, the interns took part in the event “Expert Discussion: Joint Actions to Prevent the Spread of the Practice of Transferring Ukrainian Children to the Russian Federation for “Re-Education” through the University Changes Program.
The event was attended by representatives of state authorities, foreign embassies and consulates, NGOs and Ukrainian universities, including the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University.
Future interpreters had the opportunity to observe the practice of simultaneous interpretation from experienced interpreters, assist participants using consecutive interpretation skills, and were involved in the translation of the event’s accompanying materials.
