A guest lecture was held for first-year students of all specialties of the University on the topic “Militarization of Childhood in Soviet Ukraine (1929-1941)” as part of the History of Ukraine and Ukrainian Culture course.
The lecturer was one of the leading experts on the history of the 1930s in Ukraine, Nani Hohohia.
The speaker focused the attention of the students and guests of the lecture on the little-known pages of the country’s history of the 1930s, using rich documentary material, revealed the impact of totalitarianism on Soviet childhood and its tools, and drew parallels with the totalitarian regime in Germany. She also drew historical analogies with the total militarization of childhood during the Stalinist genocide in Ukraine and the implementation of a similar policy in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine since 2014.
