Teachers of the Department of Pharmacy, Production and Technology (Faculty of Human Health) and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Ecology (Faculty of Engineering) took part in the interdepartmental seminar “European Science. How it is done in Spain”.
Olena Korchuhanova, Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacy, Production and Technology, Candidate of Technical Sciences, who is currently participating in the international research project SusPharma, shared her experience at the University of Cordoba (Spain). The project is being implemented by a consortium of five universities – Aldo Moro University and Politecnico di Milano (Italy), University of Cordoba (Spain), University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Loughborough University (UK). The consortium also includes private companies from Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Olena Korchuhanova spoke about the organization of scientific research at the University of Cordoba, where she currently works. The scientist spoke about the funding opportunities of the Spanish university and scientists, and the peculiarities of working in an international team. Research on the project at the University of Cordoba is carried out by scientists from Spain, Ukraine, India, Cuba, and Ecuador.
The equipment of the Department of Organic Chemistry, where the research is conducted, allows for research at a high scientific and technical level. After all, the project aims to develop continuous processes for pharmaceutical production using biomass residues as raw materials. The development is focused on the use and implementation of processes in microreactors. In addition to the laboratory equipment of the Department of Organic Chemistry, the researchers use the capabilities of the University Research Center.
