A regular meeting of the University Mediation Center, which operates on the basis of the Department of Psychology and Sociology of the Faculty of Human Health, was held on the topic of “Cross-border family mediation”.
The participants identified the key principles of cross-border family mediation in accordance with international standards: voluntary nature of mediation, informed consent, assessment of the possibility of mediation (mediability), neutrality, independence, impartiality and fairness, confidentiality.
Researchers have also determined that mediation is used in cross-border family conflicts (disputes): in international child custody disputes, in resolving issues of contact and visitation, in resolving issues of relocation of a family, family members (child) to another country, etc.
