Olha Losiievska, Head of the University Mediation Center, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Sociology of the Faculty of Human Health, took part in a training for trainers and supervisors of the Self-Help Plus program (Kyiv).
This is a group stress management course with the assistance of the National Program of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, which was initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska in May 2022. The course is aimed at fostering mental health care, including in higher education institutions for participants in the educational process. The National Program of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support aims to help citizens overcome war-related stress and the effects of traumatic events, and prevent the development of mental disorders. The development and implementation of the program is coordinated by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in close cooperation with Ukrainian and foreign experts. The initiative is supported by the World Health Organization. The SH+ course is one of a number of scalable psychological interventions published by WHO that are new to the Ukrainian space and can be offered alongside other methods or programs in the field of mental health.
The participants got acquainted with the Regulations on Attestation and Certification of Mental Health Professionals, the draft Law of Ukraine “On Mental Health Care Systems in Ukraine”.
Upon completion of the training, all participants received certificates from Iryna Mykychak, Director of Government Coordination at the Mental Health Coordination Center of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
