Representatives of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University defended the honor of the University at the small-caliber rifle shooting competition among pre-conscription youth of higher and vocational pre-higher education institutions of the Pechersk district of Kyiv. The student team of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University was accompanied by Tetiana Sotnikova, the University’s Ombudsman for the Rights of Higher Education Students.
The competition was held at the Ivan Bohun Kyiv Military Lyceum at the initiative of the Youth and Sports Department of the Pechersk District State Administration in Kyiv. Prior to the full-scale invasion, such competitions were held annually at the school’s shooting range.
Captain Serhii “Pysmennyk” Martyniuk conducted a safety briefing for the participants. Serhiy told the participants the basic rules of rifle shooting from the prone position. He also shared the experience of the military: it is better to aim for 3-5 seconds and added that the more you aim, the greater the error will be.
Before the shooting, everyone had to say: “Student number one is ready to shoot,” and at the end: “Student number one has finished shooting.”
Captain Martyniuk said he was proud of the participants and added: “I am a Ukrainian…” to which the university team chorused: “…and I have the mind of a winner.”
