The 5th EU Career Day was held at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University

The university community of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, representatives of higher education, NGOs, business, civil servants and active young citizens took part in the events dedicated to the EU Career Day 2023. The event was supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine within the framework of the project “Information Support to EU Networks in Ukraine”. The event was co-organized by the EU Information Center of Luhansk region and the Center for Career and Entrepreneurship Development of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University.

The participants were greeted by Viktoriia Davydova, Press and Information Officer at the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, and Ruslan Halgash, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs, Economic Activity, and Development.

In the panel discussion on the topic of “Professional Development and European Integration” was held by Denys Chernikov, project manager of the Information Support to EU Networks in Ukraine. Serhii Bolotskyi, Director of the Luhansk Regional Employment Center, spoke about the current situation on the labor market and the importance of professional development in the context of European integration.

Olena Hemusova, Deputy Director-Head of the Office of External Relations, Promotion and Innovative Development of the Department of International Technical Assistance, Innovative Development and External Relations of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, presented the work of the department, including EU-funded projects aimed at overcoming the crisis, improving social infrastructure, and ensuring the minimum needs of young people in workspaces and online learning spaces.

Yevhen Skrypnik, the leader of the NGO ShumRave, shared his own experience of implementing educational and cultural projects to promote European values and standards.

Yuliia Shaipova, an alumnus of the EU Study Days program and Team Lead at the Center for Economic Recovery, also joined the panel discussion. Yuliia Shaipova shared her own experience of participating in programs for students, including EU Study Days, and encouraged young people to use the relevant opportunities. The speaker also spoke about the ability of the public and think tanks to influence European integration processes.

Vladyslav Yemelin, a graduate of the Volodymyr Dahl Volyn National University and freelancer, shared his own story of professional development, in particular, he spoke about the use of digital technologies for training and development of professional competencies.

The first training (trainers: Olena Fedorova, Head of the Center for Career and Entrepreneurship Development at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, and Anastasiia Drozdova, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University) was dedicated to the development of soft skills, competencies and competences according to the Competence Framework for Lifelong Learning. The Framework was first approved in 2006 jointly by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU, and in May 2018 it was approved in a new version by the Council of the EU.

The second training (trainer: Doctor of Education, Professor Natalia Kulalaeva, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman) was dedicated to networking.  It is one of the tools for achieving success, an investment of time in relationships with people. Missed opportunities and contacts are unpleasant, so you need to learn how to build relationships to expand your employment opportunities and find new partners for cooperation. The training demonstrated the commitment of young active people to professional development and their willingness to explore different career paths.

The third training (trainer: Yaroslav Burlakov, leader of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute student project-grant team) was held offline and gathered more than 27 participants from among teachers and students of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The training was devoted to the topic of establishing partnerships using non-violent communication methods.

The third training (trainer: Yaroslav Burlakov, leader of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute student project-grant team) was held offline and gathered more than 27 participants from among teachers and students of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The training was devoted to the topic of establishing partnerships using non-violent communication methods.

The EU Career Day is implemented within the framework of the project “Information Support to EU Networks in Ukraine”. The event has been held annually in more than 15 cities of Ukraine for the past five years. The EU Career Day is a series of public events where representatives of the EU Networks and all active and interested citizens can share their views and experiences on the implementation of EU standards and practices in Ukraine, participation in EU programs to develop new business and educational opportunities, and discuss labor market trends, including the knowledge and skills that young people need to make a successful career.
