Specialists help people with PTSD to recover

Teachers and students of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University joined a series of trainings as part of the program of assistance to various categories of people from the United Help Ukraine Charitable Organization. The training program is devoted to the issues of psychological and physical rehabilitation and recovery of people, work with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

The organizers of the event proposed the following topics for joint discussion: disaster psychiatry; first aid; long-term mental health assessment and treatment; online resources and technologies, and invited specialized experts from the University of Florida (UF): Dr. Ana Turner, UF Gainesville and UF Jacksonville; Dr. Joseph Thornton, UF Jacksonville; Dr. Marlene Goodfriend, UF Jacksonville; Dr. Kitty Leung, UF Jacksonville.

The participants examined the factors that influence a person’s response to an emergency.

The event was attended by teachers and applicants for higher education in the specialty 053 Psychology of the educational program “Psychology” of the Department of Psychology and Sociology, teachers of the Department of Human Health and Physical Education of the Faculty of Human Health together with the Dean of the Faculty.
