The international certificate course “Truthful Reporting: Even When It Hurts” for journalism students, which was held by the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University in partnership with the public organization “Student Journalism Platform”, has come to an end.
The guest lecturer at the final meeting was Austin Malloy, an American journalist, multimedia editor and video journalist for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Austin has many years of experience working in post-Soviet countries, including reporting for the Kyiv Post and Voice of America. He shared his vision of the prospects of the journalism profession in the current environment and told about his own professional path. Answering the students’ questions, the guest emphasized that despite the breakneck speed of information technology development, the basic skill in the journalism profession is still writing.
In total, students from ten Ukrainian universities took part in the course “Truthful Reporting: Even When It Hurts”.
