On the way to “smart city” energy

The RESPONSE consortium met in Zaragoza. The event brought together about 50 partners to discuss the final phase of the project. The RESPONSE project supports the lighthouse cities of Dijon (FR) and Turku (FI), as well as Brussels (BE), Zaragoza (ES), Botosana (RO), Ptolemais (GR), Gabrovo (BU) and Sievierodonetsk (UA), helping them to provide blocks and districts with positive energy. It attracts the interest of various stakeholders by creating innovative business models that allow for the scaling and replication of solutions that form a proven roadmap for sustainable cities across Europe and beyond.

The Luhansk Regional Development Agency is responsible for preparing the replication for Sievierodonetsk, which is one of the RESPONSE cities.

Within the framework of the meeting, the participants visited the places where the latest technologies are applied, replication planning, discussed the decisions made, and presented the project results.

The idea is to turn energy sustainability into an acceptable concept by addressing the energy trilemma (security, equity/affordability, environmental sustainability) at the building, neighborhood, and district level in smart cities.
