Intercultural interaction between American and Ukrainian students

Students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University held a final meeting with students from Front Range Community College (USA) as part of the course “Global view of communication” with a focus on intercultural interaction and understanding between American and Ukrainian students.

The course was developed by Olena Hnedkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation, together with her American colleague Brandon Stowe as part of the COIL project, a global network of international cooperation between students and teachers through online learning.

19 students from the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation of various bachelor’s and master’s courses worked with their American peers in an inspiring way, considering the impact of language, race, verbal and non-verbal communication on human behavior, preparing presentations and projects, and discussing the similarities and differences between Ukrainian and American mentalities.
