A long-awaited online meeting of representatives of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University with authorized representatives of Georgia State University (USA) took place to discuss the prospects for cooperation. The event was organized by the Luhansk Regional State Administration, which is a long-standing and reliable partner of the university and seeks to involve Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University in a new international project.
Volodymyr Riznichenko, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States, who was present at the meeting, expressed his gratitude to all the scholars who plan to participate in the project.
John D. Bunting, PhD, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Intensive English Program at the Department of Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University, will be the curator of the project, which will combine the efforts of faculty from Georgia State University. He is a longtime friend of Ukraine and is widely known as a talented linguist and trainer who teaches English to people from all over the world.
Mr. Bunting spoke about his university, which unites 9 colleges of different specializations, and the prospects for further cooperation with scientists from Luhansk region. He emphasized that the mission of the participants was globalization, building reliable ties between institutions, and signing a cooperation agreement with universities in the region.
Robin Katie, a researcher at the University of Georgia, said she was looking forward to working with the philologists from the Dahl SNU, who were represented by faculty from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Ruslan Galgash, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Economics and Development of the Volodymyr Dahl National University of Kyiv, told the American guests about the problems of displaced universities. He noted that for IDPs who have lost their homes, university work is an important support that allows them to build a common future. He also promised to prepare more detailed proposals for cooperation in the near future, especially in the field of science. He outlined the benefits of the latest projects of the Volodymyr Dahl National University, including the Innovation Park and the Center for Veteran Development.
Olena Seredina, Head of the International Cooperation Department, spoke about the history and current state of the university, which has been relocated twice. She emphasized that despite the new premises in Kyiv and the help of international partners, the university has an urgent need for office equipment, educational equipment, furniture, and generators.
Inna Semenenko, Professor of the Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship and Head of the Resource Center for Sustainable Development, highlighted the cooperation of the Volodymyr Dahl National University with American organizations and institutions. She focused on 3 projects funded by USAID, the development of a crisis management plan with the assistance of DG-East, and participation in the HOVERLA project aimed at developing local government in Ukraine.
All those present emphasized the importance of international support for Ukraine in wartime and thanked the American people for their help.
