Introductory word about the department
The department conducts training at the levels of higher education bachelor and master in full-time and part-time forms of education in the following specialties:
- 241 Hotel and restaurant business (bachelor)
- 242 Tourism (bachelor)
- 292 International Economic Relations (Bachelor)
- 242 Tourism (Master’s degree)
- 292 International Economic Relations (Master’s degree)
A specialist in international economic relations takes part in the formation of foreign economic policy of the enterprise, ensures the activities and development of economic entities. Graduates of the specialty “International Economic Relations” receive basic training of an economist of a wide profile, thanks to which they can also hold any positions at enterprises of all forms of ownership, organizations and institutions of public administration, commercial banks, public organizations, customs and international companies.
The department also trains specialists in the service sector both nationally and internationally. Students receive the knowledge necessary to work in the field of tourism, hotel and restaurant business, in auxiliary activities in the field of tourism management and occupy positions: head (director) of a tourist complex, travel company or its branch, travel agency; tourism manager; specialist in the organization of tourism (international, gastronomic, mass, educational, sports, rural, etc.); transfer guide, specialist in office work in tourism; consultant on standardization, licensing and certification of tourist services; specialist in corporate services in tourism; tourism inspector; agent for the organization of tourism, etc.
History of the department
The department was founded by merging the departments of international economic relations and the department of tourism and hotel management. Training of specialists in international economic relations has been held at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University since 1993. Training of specialists in tourism and hotel and restaurant business has been held at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University since 2004.
The high level of training is evidenced by reviews of enterprises and institutions where graduates of the specialty work. Students of the specialty take part in student exchange programs, the “Work and Travel” program, undergo internships and internships in Germany, Turkey, Poland, Japan, China, and the USA. The department is taught by highly qualified specialists with extensive experience, with their own individual teaching methods.

The founder of the department and its head until 2016 was Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Buzko Irina Romanovna, who has more than 200 scientific works, is the chairman of the specialized academic council D29.051.01. Under the guidance of Professor I.R. Buzko, 10 doctors and 24 candidates of economic sciences defended themselves.
Information about the Head of the Department
Head of the Graduate Department of International Economic Relations, Professor of Economics Yurii Yuriiovych Diachenko has been holding this position since 2016.
He defended his doctoral dissertation “Development of personnel of industrial enterprises in the context of European integration” in the specialty 08.00.04 – Economics and management of enterprises (by type of economic activity).
Research interests: fundamental issues of artificial intelligence and application of intelligent systems for personnel development and distance learning.
He has more than 100 scientific works, including in publications indexed in the Scopus. H-index.
He is a member of the Dissertation Council D 29.051.01.
He studied for his doctorate at the Sofia University named after St. Clement of Ohrid (Bulgaria) within the framework of the Erasmus project “Development of Humanitarian Education based on World Experience” (HERMES). He was the manager of the EU project 144641-TEMPUS-2008-FI-JPCR “International Network for Modernization of Tourism Education and Development of Academic Mobility (INTOUR)”.
Member of the Ukrainian Association of European Studies and the Eastern European Network for Philosophy of Science. Member of the organizing committee of international scientific conferences “Open Learning and Distance Education” and “Information Technology and Management” (Higher School of Information Systems Management, Latvia) and MATTECH (Bishop Konstantin Preslavski University of Shumen, Bulgaria). Expert of the research project “Models and algorithms for knowledge extraction from big data modeling neural networks and optimal training procedures” (Bishop Konstantin Preslavski University of Shumen, Bulgaria).

Scientific work
Capable students who study well are involved in scientific work at the department. Scientific work of students allows to increase their knowledge and to prepare more effectively for postgraduate studies.
The department trains candidates and doctors of sciences in postgraduate and doctoral studies, there is a specialized academic council D 29.051.01 for the defense of dissertations for the degree of doctor (candidate) of economic sciences in the specialties 08.00.04 – Economics and management of enterprises (by types of economic activity) and 08.00.05 – Development of productive forces and regional economy.
Students participate in various projects, including grants, focused on the cohesion of student youth. The department explores innovative ways to develop regional tourism, students participate in the development of new tourist routes, hiking and exploration of regional attractions that should further attract tourists. Students compile and test their own excursion projects.

Introduction about the department
Today, the integration of national education into the European and world educational space requires the knowledge of foreign languages at a qualitatively new level.
Knowledge of the languages of international communication is extremely necessary for Ukrainians, because it expands the access of citizens to the world opportunities of education, culture and economy. Without decent knowledge of foreign languages by Ukrainians at the proper level, Ukraine’s integration into the scientific, economic and political space is impossible.
General information about the department
Teachers of the department provide teaching of English, German and French to students of non-linguistic specialties.
The work of the teachers of the department is aimed at training specialists whose knowledge and skills will enable them to compete successfully not only in Ukraine but also abroad. Modern society has an urgent need for specialists who are fluent in professional and colloquial foreign language.
Teaching a foreign professional language encourages teachers to constantly acquire new knowledge, develop professionally and improve their skills.
History of the Department
The Department of Foreign Languages and Professional Communication was established on February 27, 1967 with the aim of improving the quality of foreign language teaching in the professional direction of students. In connection with the relocation of the University to the city of Sievierodonetsk in November 2015, the departments of foreign languages, English, foreign language training of foreign citizens and the section of foreign languages from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences were merged into the Department of Foreign Languages and Professional Communication.
Disciplines
The Department provides training for students of all levels of professional education – bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate studies at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, offering the following compulsory courses:
– foreign language (English, French, German);
– second foreign language;
– foreign language of the specialty;
– business foreign language (English, French, German);
– theory and practice of translation;
– Latin;
– foreign language for professional purposes for students of bachelor’s programs;
– foreign language for students of master’s programs;
– foreign language for future scientists who continue their studies in graduate school.
Teaching is conducted according to the latest programs based on the achievements of modern methods.
In order to increase the interest of students in learning foreign languages, student competitions, scientific conferences, both university and inter-university, are held annually. Students participate in many foreign language competitions, where they have repeatedly won prizes.
The teaching staff of the department develops and publishes methodological recommendations for students, takes an active part in scientific conferences in Ukraine and abroad, organizes methodological seminars with the involvement of foreign specialists.
With great inspiration, students participate in theatrical performances in foreign languages in the theatrical and musical studio (Magic Pie) Magic Pie under the direction of Natalia Barvina.
In 2022, the department opened a new specialty 014 “Secondary Education”, specialization 014.021 “English Language and Literature” for the first (bachelor’s), second (master’s) educational qualification levels of higher education.
The aims of the educational program of this specialty are: to provide fundamental theoretical and practical training to acquire the ability to solve topical problems of pedagogical science and educational practice in the performance of professional duties as a teacher of English and foreign literature in secondary education, as well as a teacher of higher education institutions with an emphasis on the ability to teach and educate the younger generation, taking into account the moral, aesthetic, cultural and educational goals of the state; critical thinking.
In addition to basic English, it is compulsory to study a second foreign language (German / French), Latin. The advantages are also the opportunity to join practical teaching activities from the first years of study in schools of the city and region; close cooperation with schools of the city and region, extracurricular institutions and influential international organizations; national and international academic mobility programs; language internships abroad; studying at summer language schools in Ukraine and Europe; active student research work; active student participation in the work of the theater and music studio “Magic Pie” in theatrical performances in foreign languages.

General information about the department
The Department of Germanic-Roman Philology and Translation is a part of the Institute of International Relations of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University and carries out its activities according to the third level of accreditation.
Highly qualified teachers of the Department have considerable experience in training translation specialists. The academic staff of the Department researches the problems of translation studies and foreign philology, teaches the disciplines that form the basis of theoretical training of translators, conducts practical courses of the main and second foreign languages and translation.
The main goal of the department is to train translation specialists who are properly qualified to carry out interlingual communication in modern socio-economic conditions, the spread of global information networks. Training of translators at East Ukrainian National University contributes to the integration of the region into European processes in the economic, social and cultural spheres.
History of the Department
The Department of Germanic and Romance Philology and Translation was established by the order of the Rector on November 1, 2015 on the basis of the graduate department of the theory and practice of translation of Germanic and Romance languages as a result of the accession of the Department of Foreign Language Practice to it, but it has a rich history. The Department of Germanic and Romance Languages Translation Theory and Practice was established in 2000 on the basis of the Department of Professional Language Training. During this period, the Department has trained and graduated more than a thousand highly qualified specialists in the field of translation, Germanic and Romance philology and foreign language teaching.

The department trains specialists in the field of political relations, international and diplomatic activities. Students acquire the knowledge necessary to work as an advisor, analyst and consultant on political issues; image-maker and developer of political technologies; researcher; political technologist, PR-manager in the field of politics, public relations and press specialist; assistant consultant to the People’s Deputy of Ukraine; election campaign manager; political observer, journalist; specialist of the consular service of the diplomatic corps, international translator.

History of the Department
The Department of Political Science and International Relations became the successor of the Departments of Socio-Political Theories and Political Science, which played an important role in the formation and development of the humanitarian component of higher education at the modern university In 1991, for the first time at the university, the teaching of a new discipline “Political Science” was started. In 1998, a new specialty “Political Science” was opened.
During this time, fourteen graduations of political scientists were carried out, among which 13 graduates prepared and defended their dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Political Sciences in the specialty 23.00.02 – Political Institutions and Processes. In 2012, a new direction of training was licensed – “International Relations”. From 1997 to 2016 the Department was headed by Halyna Shchedrova – Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Political Sciences.
Since 2016 the Department is headed by Doctor of Political Sciences Mazur Oksana Hennadiivna. Since 2017, the department is headed by Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor Liudmyla Pavlova.

Liudmyla Ismailivna Pavlova – Candidate of Political Sciences, Associate Professor. Since 2004 – Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science and International Relations of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University. In 2010 she defended her PhD thesis “The specifics of the functioning of the institute of parliamentarism in modern Ukraine”. In 2017 she was appointed to the position of the Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University.

Scientific work
Research topics – problems of modernization of the political system of Ukraine, functioning of civil society institutions, development of European integration processes in modern Ukraine. The Department is the initiator of the annual All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Modernization of the Political System of Modern Ukraine: State and Prospects of Development”, and is also the founder of the only specialized professional publication in the region on political sciences “Political Science Notes”. A master of this specialty can hold the following positions: teacher of a higher educational institution, teacher of a vocational educational institution, assistant, research engineer in computer systems, computer system or network administrator; computer software engineer, computer systems analyst. History of the Department of Pedagogy
In 2003, the Department of Pedagogy was opened at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University (Order No. 6 of 15.03.2003), which includes: the Department of Pedagogy, the Research Institute of Human Spiritual Development, in the structure of which the UNESCO International Chair “Spiritual and Cultural Values of Education and Upbringing” functions.
General information about the Department of Pedagogy
The Research Institute of Human Spiritual Development unites scientists from different regions of Ukraine who work fruitfully in 14 research laboratories and 3 research centers on the problems of spirituality, spiritual culture of the individual and spiritual security of the Ukrainian nation. An important structural subdivision of the Research Institute of Human Spiritual Development is the International UNESCO Chair, which fruitfully cooperates with national UNESCO Chairs, as well as UNESCO Chairs in Germany, Canada, USA, Great Britain, Turkey, Israel, Austria, Australia, Scandinavian countries, New Zealand and other countries, which gives positive results in research and educational activities.
The Department of Pedagogy publishes a professional collection of scientific works “Spirituality of the Personality: Methodology, Theory and Practice”, which is included in the International Database Ulrich’s Periodical Directory (2013), the International Scientometric Database Index Copernicus International (2013), the full-text database Open Academic Journals Index (2014), Google Scholar (2014), the Vernadsky National Library (2008).
Information about the head of the department
The Department of Pedagogy of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University is headed by a full member (academician) of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the International Slavic Pedagogical Academy of Education named after Jan Amos Comenius, member of the Bureau of the Higher School Department of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, member of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, Director of the Research Institute of Spiritual Development of Man, Head of the UNESCO Chair “Spiritual and Cultural Values of Upbringing and Education”, founder of the scientific school “Formation of spiritual culture of students by means of art”, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Halyna Shevchenko.
Under her supervision 23 doctoral and more than 100 candidate dissertations were defended. H.P. Shevchenko is the chairman of the specialized academic council (D29.051.06) for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations in pedagogy in the specialties 13.00.07 – theory and methods of education and 13.00.01 – general pedagogy and history of pedagogy. Since 2004, H.P. Shevchenko has been the editor-in-chief of the collection of scientific works “Spirituality of the Personality: Methodology, Theory and Practice”, which is included in the register of professional publications of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine, and since 2013 it has been included in the International scientometric database “Index Copernicus International”.
She is the founder of a new direction in pedagogical science: “Interaction of arts in artistic and aesthetic education and development of students”, a leading expert in the field of theory and methods of education, the author of more than 230 scientific works on the problems of spirituality of the personality, spiritual culture, spiritual, moral and aesthetic aspects of human life, its value orientations and value-semantic guidelines. For her significant contribution to the development of modern pedagogical science, spiritual, moral, aesthetic education of the younger generation, training of highly qualified teaching staff, fruitful and creative scientific work, Professor Shevchenko was awarded the honorary title of Ukraine “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine” (1996), the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree (March 3, 2006, № 191), the Gold Medal of the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree (March 3, 2006). No. 191), Gold Medal of K.D.Ushynsky (2009), Medal of G.Skovoroda (May 19, 2011), Medal of V.Monomakh (2015), Badge “Excellence in Public Education of Ukraine”, Badge “Petro Mohyla” (2011), Medal “For Merits to Luhansk Region”, Order “2000 Years of Christmas” (2000), Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2005), Diploma of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2005). H.P.Shevchenko was among the first scientists of Ukraine to be elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1992). In 2010 she was awarded the honorary title “Honorary Professor of the East Ukrainian National University”. In 2016 H.P.Shevchenko was recognized as the Scientist of the Year. On October 20, 2016 she was elected a full member (academician) of the NAPS of Ukraine.
