VDEUNU Team Takes Part in a Study Visit to the University of Bayreuth under the Erasmus+ EduFlex Project

From 23 to 25 September 2026, Olena Arsentieva and Oleh Zakhozhai, representatives of Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, took part in the Study Visit “Designing Flexible Learning Pathways: The University of Bayreuth Experience” at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. The visit was held within the EduFlex project, which is implemented under the Erasmus+ programme, Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education (CBHE).

Over three days, European and Ukrainian partners learned how the University of Bayreuth designs flexible, competence-oriented and student-centred learning pathways. They also saw how the university’s digital ecosystem works and how it builds a quality culture.

Participants visited two of the university’s units. The first was the Centre for Higher Education Teaching (ZHL), which focuses on teaching innovation, professional development and support for academic staff, including in digital teaching. The second was the International Office, which is responsible for academic mobility, internationalisation and support for international students and staff.

Particular attention was given to quality assurance and accreditation. This experience is especially valuable for Ukrainian universities that are building their own internal quality assurance systems.

During the visit, consortium members reviewed the current progress of the project and agreed on its next stages and further steps in disseminating its results. The outcomes of the visit will feed into the next EduFlex tasks, namely methodological guidelines and models of individual learning pathways for Ukrainian higher education institutions.
