Women scientists spoke the common language of chemistry

Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University scientists took part in the event at the invitation of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), which is the world authority on standards in chemistry, creates and develops chemical nomenclature and terminology, including the names of new elements in the periodic table, and standardizes measurement methods. Founded in 1919, IUPAC has been creating a common language for chemistry for more than a century.

For several years in a row, IUPAC has initiated the Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB). The purpose of the GWB series, held in conjunction with the UN Day of Women and Girls in Science, is to create an active network of people of all genders to overcome barriers to gender equality in science. Over the past five years, more than 1500 GWB events have been held in 100 countries. Each of these annual events had a theme.

The theme of this year’s event (#GWB2024) is “Catalyzing Diversity in Science”. Events were organized around the world and held both offline and online.

Associate Professors of the Department of Pharmacy, Production and Technology Korchuganova O.M., Liubimova-Zinchenko O.V. and Associate Professor of the Department of Chemical Technology and Engineering Mokhonko V.I. took part in the event entitled “Diversity of ideas for the sustainable development of pharmaceuticals”.
